I did a quick SEO job for a client recently which highlights the power of good onsite optimisation combined with well placed external links.
The website is Social Stream TV, a website which offers live streaming, integrated with social networking and online buying and selling. The website has a few public pages, but most of the content is in members areas, behind logins. The website wasn’t appearing in the top 100 Google NZ search results for anything!.
The search terms of interest are:
- live stream
- live streaming
- free live stream
- free live streaming
- live video streaming
I utilised link theming and optimised the home page for these keyphrases. I then built quality content on web 2.0 properties (Hubpages, Squidoo etc) and linked those into the homepage via good anchor text. I created proper web 2.0 pages using the clients real details, and did it by hand, making the web 2.0 pages as useful and complete as possible.
This was enough to push the website up from ”not in the top 100 results” to the following in 2 weeks:
Work continues to push the website up for the two more generic phrases.
